Creating Your First Story

Posted in Duplication

When you first join a network marketing company, you’re all excited with First Network Marketing Checkvisions of huge residual checks being delivered each month to your mailbox. But as time goes by, this excitement can start to wane, if you didn’t create a big splash in the beginning.

Your first story is important so you can share with prospects what happened to you after you first started your business. People do what you do. Everything you do duplicates - good and bad! So make your first story and the stories of your personal enrollees something you’re proud to share. It makes enrolling new people so much easier!

What’s Your Network Marketing Story?

Everyone has a story about what happened to them when they first got involved with network marketing. Of course, we all want the story that goes something like this…

I got involved in May, and my first check in June was $3,200 for only a few weeks of work. I exposed 40 people to the business and half of them jumped on-board! Out of those 20 people, 4 of them built businesses themselves and have each enrolled 10 new people. My customers are loving the products and word is spreading fast!

OK, so maybe that’s not your story. Maybe everything didn’t fall into place for you like that. Let’s face it - that doesn’t happen for most of us. But, what if you could recreate your story - start fresh! Now that you’re more experienced and skilled, you can create a brand new story to tell prospects…

I got involved in May, and while I didn’t do much with the business for the first year, I recently made a decision to start again. In the last month I made $2,462 by getting reenergized in the business and sharing the wonderful products with people. I enrolled 15 new people and 1 of them even wants to build their own business. This helps me leverage my time since he’s already brought 8 new people into the business. My organization is growing and starting to duplicate!

That’s a little more realistic and achievable at any time throughout your network marketing business!

Helping the New Guy Create a Killer Story

Just as you want your story to be good, you need to help your new enrollees to create their own first story. It sure helps them combat the naysayers, when they get a good first check!

A good story includes:

  • Big first check - People get into network marketing for all sorts of reasons, but when you get down to it, everyone is attracted by a nice paycheck!
  • Short time frame - New enrollees need to see success in a short period of time. We’re not talking about a one year plan at this point. We need to show them that they can put in some part-time work in the first 2-4 weeks and earn a good check.
  • Easy to Do - The last component of a good story is something that anyone can do. If your marketing methods are too difficult, time consuming, or intimidating, people don’t care how much money you made - they won’t do it! So keep it simple and duplicatable.

Here are some tips to keep the new guy on track to making a great first story:

  1. Less Training - This seems to fly in the face of what we usually do with new enrollees, but too much info will overwhelm them.
  2. Do It With Them - New guys learn best by doing and watching, not by reading. So instead of giving them the company manual to review, and the product list to study, walk them through each step. If you want them to invite people to a presentation, get on the phone with them. If you want them to have an in-home presentation, do it with them. There is a fine line between doing it with them and doing it for them, which we’ll discuss later. But, when you enroll someone new, it is your job to grab them by the hand and walk them through the entire process.
  3. Focus on Money Making Activities - We can all get caught up in network marketing “busy-work”, but we also know that there are about 3 main money-making activities - inviting, presenting, and follow-up. That’s it! So do those three only with your new guy. It will make them successful sooner and that makes everyone happier.

Your story is critical to your success. If you don’t have a good one - Go make one starting today. If you’re just new to network marketing - make your first month as good as it can be. You can use your story over and over to tell prospects what should happen, what did happen, and how it can happen for them too!

I agree to keep your marketing methods simple but in the story it should be mentioned that it’s not easy as well. I mean it takes time to build your business and patience. Not everytime things go well, on Internet you need to put your time as well with those methods, once you put in hard work and time in your business, you’ll start seeing profits soon.

Network Marketing can be a great business if you just treat it like a business. Most people do not. Treat it like a passive hobby.
