Are You a Network Marketing Orphan?
Are you one of the many abandoned network marketers left without the guidance and assistance of an experienced upline sponsor? Or maybe you’ve met an orphan at a company event who tells you how difficult it is to go it alone.
So, why does this happen? Because network marketing business seems to always attract those that are gung-ho one month and out of the game the next. Let’s face it - we’re in a business full of flakes! But when your upline decides to quit the business or is only “taking a spot”, how do you protect yourself from going down with them?
There’s only two ways…to get adopted or become your own leader.
-
Get Adopted
Getting adopted into another group within your company is far more common that you might think. If the whole idea of network marketing is to help those that you make money from, then it wouldn’t make sense why a leader would want to adopt you into their organization, since they probably won’t make any money from you.
Not true! Firstly, you can go above you sponsor’s head to their sponsor. This is the most common way to get adopted. Think about it like grandparents raising you. Sure, your parent may have run off after another opportunity, but grandparents are strong, stable, and do what’s right. That’s what your upline is like. They are invested in their position in the company, and more likely than not, make a decent living in this business. And, they do have something to gain by helping you. You can connect with them by calling the company, explaining your situation, and that you would like to call your upline for some help. Most companies will help you get in touch with them.
If you can’t find an upline leader to take you under their wings, then you can always go sideline. Sure, this can be more difficult, but many times, leaders of other organizations will welcome you in if you are geographically close to other members in their group, or if you’re a single parent they can team up with other single parents in their organization. You get the idea. Leaders know they can increase duplication by teaming people up, so you might be just what they need! Your company will most likely be able to hook you up with the “leader in the area”.
-
Become Your Own Leader
If you can’t get adopted, the only thing left to do is to become your own leader. Sure, this can be more difficult, and can take you longer to achieve results, but you can create your own group, and support will come from that.
Some of the best ways to “pick yourself up by the boot straps” is to immerse yourself in company and leadership training materials. Does your company offer a monthly magazine filled with stories of success, product stories, and generally uplifting information? Then grab it and read a new page every day. Do top leaders in the company publish audio or video materials that you can buy inexpensively? That’s a way to follow what the top dogs do without having to be in their group.
No matter which path you go down, being orphaned by your sponsor doesn’t have to mean the end of your network marketing career. Pick yourself up, find a new leader, or become one yourself!

it’s a sad truth but these ‘leaders’ that enroll people and then let them fend for themselves without providing the proper training and support team are a disgrace… the industry is about relationships, so why do they play the numbers game ??

Of course, there are some good things about this kind of work. As long as the company is doing well, you know you will have a steady paycheck. You can get promoted. You can gain experience that can be used at other jobs at other companies.
